WRONGFUL DEATH SETTLEMENT: Tow Truck Driver's Family Settles for $3.4 Million Dollars
September 2025
The family of a local tow truck driver who was killed on Interstate 255 in Monroe County, Illinois in November of 2023 has settled a case against the at-fault parties for a total payment of $3,400,000.00. Although the names of all parties are required to be kept confidential, the family of W.B., who tragically died after being hit by a motor vehicle on the side of Interstate 255 has agreed to a settle the case against all defendants. This motor vehicle accident is a tragic reminder that life is precious and can be altered or taken away in the blink of an eye.
Attorney Scott Kehlenbrink argued that the Defendants failed to use due care while operating the motor vehicle which led to the wrongful death of W.B. He also argued that the individual defendant's employer failed to implement appropriate measures to ensure safety during the operation of company vehicles, and that violations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) would be uncovered during litigation and likely lead to the imposition of punitive damages.
The case settled without need for filing a formal lawsuit.
