Illinois DUI Laws and Missouri DWI Laws

A first DUI offense in Illinois is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in the county jail and a fine of $2,500 plus court costs. Subsequent violations can lead to felony charges punishable by time in the Illinois Department of Corrections and up to a $25,000.00 fine. In addition to possible jail time and fines, a first offense also can lead to the loss of your driver's license for a period of up to one (1) year while subsequent violations can lead to permanent revocation of your license.

A first DWI offense in Missouri is a Class B Misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in the county jail and a fine of up to $500.00. Subsequent violations can lead to felony charges punishable by time in the Missouri Department of Corrections and up to a $10,000.00 fine. In addition to possible jail time and fines, a first offense also can lead to the loss of your driver's license for a period of 90 days while subsequent violations can lead to permanent revocation of your license.

When arrested for a DUI or DWI, the clock begins ticking and there are time sensitive deadlines that must be met if you want to keep your driver's license!

Many people think that when they are stopped for DUI or DWI there is no defense, especially if they blow over 0.08 on the breathalyzer. However, our DUI defense attorneys are experienced in the processes and science behind DUI arrests. Once we are able to review the arrest reports, videos and other pieces of evidence, we are often able to find mistakes that were made, or we find that the science does not match the evidence. This allows us to take apart the prosecution's case from its foundation.

While not every client goes free from an Illinois DUI charge, many of our clients' cases are dismissed before trial or the charges are substantially reduced, allowing them to keep their freedom and their ability to drive.
